-
Innovation.
Have you ever built a tower out of marshmallows and spaghetti with only a yard of tape and a yard of string? Barred Academy students enjoy opportunities to flex their innovation muscles and engage their flexible thinking, planning, and problem-solving skills along the way.
-
Discovery.
Learning about fossil discoveries is one thing, but experiencing the tedious process of revealing a fossil of our own, expands our appreciation for the work of archeologists.
-
Creativity.
Students engage in opportunities throughout their day to express thoughts and ideas, challenge themselves to learn new, creative techniques, and show their learning through creative outlets.
-
Leadership.
We all have talents and skills to share with others, and at The Barred Academy we cherish the opportunity to provide students with the space to teach their peers. Kids Teach Day allows students to develop a lesson in an area of their interest and teach their peers and their teachers.
-
Nature.
With Harper Lake just a half-mile trail walk away in one direction, and Annette Brand Park less than a half mile in the other direction, students experience adventures, nature walks, and outdoor education experiences throughout the school year.
-
Science.
Science education provides additional opportunities for students to explore the world around them, use their inquisitive minds to dig into topics of interest and learn new ways of engaging in constructive discourse.
-
Joy.
The Barred Academy always leaves time for play. What better time of year to share fun and games than Halloween? Our Halloween Extravaganza is packed with games that focus on tenacity, teamwork, and leadership… with plenty of laughter.
-
Connection.
When we ask our students about their favorite memories from the school year, we hear a chorus of gratitude for the friendships that they have formed. Our safe and welcoming environment makes connecting with others part of the culture.
-
Curiosity.
Scholars are presented with challenges, problems, and questions with which only their curiosity is their limit. Self-drive to research and experiment in order to fulfill one’s sense of wonder is always encouraged.
